Club Recipe: Earl Grey Martini

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

This is a really well balanced and refreshing cocktail, it’s easy to make and looks impressive.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 50ml dry gin
  • 2 x lemons
  • Sugar syrup - It is easy to make your own!*
  • Ice cubes

* Simply mix equal amounts of caster sugar and hot water until dissolved and leave to cool. (Store excess syrup in a bottle and refrigerate for future use).

Method:

  1. Firstly, brew some Earl Grey tea using one of the tea bags for around 3-4 mins and allow to cool.
  2. Measure 50ml of the tea and pour into a mixing tin (if you don't have a cocktail shaker just use a large glass or container).
  3. Next add 50ml of your dry gin into the mixing tin.
  4. Then add half a shot of lemon juice (12.5ml).
  5. Add half a shot of your sugar syrup.
  6. Now add 4-5 large chunks of ice into your mixing tin and stir with a spoon for around 15 seconds (This chills the liquid and dilutes the alcohol so that it is easier to drink).
  7. Next strain your mixture with a tea strainer or small sieve into your finest cup and saucer, take care not to get any ice into the cup.
  8. Finally garnish with lemon slices and submerge the remaining earl grey tea bag into the drink.
