In the academy, there is a continued focus to become a category two academy, and this appointment will play a supporting role in that. This is a really exciting time to join the academy, as we move on to the next stage and continue to support the first team.

Main Duties

The Academy & JTC Goalkeeping Coach (Casual) will play a key role within the goalkeeping department. You will be required to assist in the delivery of the goalkeeping development programme and play a part in the overall development of academy goalkeepers. This includes, Foundation Phase (U9-U12) and Youth Development Phase (U13-U16). You will also be required to deliver JTC goalkeeper sessions, whilst monitoring the progress of JTC goalkeepers.

  • Work closely with the Academy Head of Goalkeeping to ensure the continuous development of all academy goalkeepers.
  • Work closely with all members of the academy multidisciplinary team, in order to provide the goalkeepers with the strongest development programme possible.
  • Prepare and deliver age-appropriate training sessions, to an elite academy standard and age-appropriate training sessions to JTC goalkeepers.
  • Arrive prior to scheduled training sessions in order to ensure adequate preparation, before the players have arrived.
  • Create a safe, positive learning environment, which allows player development to take place.
  • Maintain high professional standards, displaying high levels of professional behaviour and appearance at all times, whilst encouraging the same from all coaches and players.
  • Support goalkeepers on academy matchdays, overseeing the goalkeeper warm-ups and supporting within match play.
  • Record and review all sessions on the club’s player management system (PMA).
  • Assist in writing and delivering academy goalkeeper reviews (U9-U16).
  • Undertake other duties when required, as directed by other key staff.
  • Undertake and attend continued professional development (CPD) events when required.
  • Work with Academy Head of Goalkeeping to plan, deliver and evaluate sessions in line with the philosophy, goalkeeping development programme and coach competency framework.
  • Be available to work on weekday evenings and weekends.
  • Be capable and open minded as to the benefits and positive outcomes of integration of goalkeepers with outfield practices.
  • As a casual worker you must adhere to the club’s safeguarding policies and procedures and are committed to our safeguarding values, creating a safe and positive environment for all those who interact with the club.

Key knowledge

Essential

  • UEFA B Licence Goalkeeping
  • UEFA B Licence
  • Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF) / FA Safeguarding / Enhanced DBS Check.

  • Experience of working with academy-level goalkeepers.
  • Passionate about goalkeeping and developing goalkeepers.
  • Ability to adapt under pressure.
