Tyrone Mings featured as in-form Aston Villa secured a Championship play-off place by registering a club record 10th successive victory.

Mings made his 14th appearance for the Villans as Jonathan Kodjia’s first-half goal earned them a 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Millwall at Villa Park.

The record had stood since 1910 and Villa are assured of finishing at least sixth as fellow high-fliers Derby face Bristol City on Saturday, meaning both cannot overhaul Dean Smith’s team.

Marc Pugh made his 15th appearance for Hull City in their 3-0 defeat by promotion-chasing Sheffield United at the KCOM Stadium.

David McGoldrick’s double and an Enda Stevens goal had the Blades in control at the break. Pugh was replaced by Jon Toral in the 68th minute.

Alex Dobre played the full 90 minutes as Yeovil Town shared the points from a 1-1 draw with League Two rivals Colchester United at Huish Park.

Jake Gray opened the scoring for the Glovers before Tom Eastman levelled for the 10-man visitors who had earlier had goalkeeper Dillon Barnes sent off.

Yeovil remained two points adrift of safety with two game left, starting with Saturday’s visit to Northampton Town.

Tyler Cordner made his 33rd appearance for Havant & Waterlooville in their 2-0 defeat at Aldershot in the National League.

Former AFC Bournemouth manager Lee Bradbury parted company by mutual consent with the relegated Hawks after the match.

Frank Vincent got his hands on the National South trophy following Torquay United’s 1-0 defeat by Hungerford Town in front of a crowd of 5,351 at Plainmoor.

Vincent started the clash and was replaced by Opi Edwards after 73 minutes before the Gulls were presented with the silverware following the final whistle.

Corey Jordan played his part as Eastbourne Borough secured their National South status following a dramatic 1-1 draw at Slough Town.

Billy Clifford’s last-minute penalty appeared to have won the day for Slough at Arbour Park, only for Nico Cotton to level for Sports deep into injury-time.

Jake Scrimshaw and Sam Sherring both featured for their respective loan clubs as honours finished even in the Dorset derby between Southern Premier South rivals Poole Town and Weymouth.

Defender Sherring made a crucial goal-line clearance with the score at 1-1 after Corby Moore’s stunning strike for Poole had cancelled out Calvin Brooks’s opener for the Terras.

Scrimshaw was replaced by James Constable after 61 minutes, while Tom Hanfrey and James Boote were both unused substitutes for Poole.

Weymouth host Farnborough on Saturday bidding to clinch the title, while the Dolphins will be hoping to secure a play-off place when they visit relegated Staines Town.

Aaron Ramsdale will be hoping to help League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon upset the formbook when they travel to leaders Luton Town tonight.
