In a busy night of Checkatrade Trophy action, two Cherries loanees scored their first goals for the temporary sides.

Sam Surridge got the goal scoring started for Yeovil Town in their 3-1 away win at Exeter City.

The striker had gone close twice in the first half and then scored two minutes after the break, finishing first time under the 'keeper following some tenacious work from former Cherries forward Jordan Green.

Baily Cargill, who came off the bench in League One on Saturday, started on the left side of defence for the Cod Army in their 3-0 Checkatrade Trophy win over Leicester City under-21s at Highbury.

The on-loan centre-back also got on the scoresheet as he scored his side's 61st-minute second, heading home George Glendon's free-kick before confirming his side's clean sheet by playing the full match.

Newport County lost 2-0 away at Forest Green Rovers, with on-loan Bournemouth striker Joe Quigley lining up as a long striker in the game and playing the full 90 minutes, at one point seeing a header cleared off the line for the Exiles.

Quigley will now join up with the Republic of Ireland under-21s.

To finish off the Checkatrade Trophy round-up, Ben Whitfield was an unused substitute for Port Vale who drew 0-0 at Oldham Athletic before winning the bonus point by winning the resulting penalty shootout 4-2.
