AFC Bournemouth is extremely saddened to hear the news of Jamie Vincent's passing.

The defender made a total of 141 appearances for the club, scoring six goals in his five years on the south coast.

Born in Wimbledon, Vincent arrived at Dean Court initially on loan, signing as a trainee from Crystal Palace during the 1994/95 season.

Following a successful spell, he signed permanently in 1996 and made his debut in August that year, playing 90 minutes of a 2-1 defeat at home to Peterborough United in Division Two.

Vincent's maiden Cherries goal came on the opening day of the following campaign, netting in a 2-0 away victory against Northampton Town.

It was the start of a successful season as he went on to help the side reach the final of the Auto Windscreens Shield, which took place at Wembley Stadium. Vincent played the full game as the team finished runners up to Grimsby Town.

His performances in red and black continued to impress and recognition was awarded following the 1998/99 season as he was named in the Second Division's PFA Team of the Year.

Having played alongside the likes of Eddie Howe, Steve Fletcher, Jimmy Glass, Ian Cox and Russell Beardsmore, Vincent departed Dean Court in the summer of 1999, joining Huddersfield Town and subsequently being named their Player of the Year at the end of his maiden season.

He later would go on to feature for clubs such as Portsmouth, Swindon Town and Walsall, but never eclipsed the number of appearances that he made for the Cherries.

The thoughts of everyone at AFC Bournemouth are with the family and friends of Jamie at this awfully sad time.
