Jonny Day continued his fine start to the season as his brace helped the Cherries to victory over Peterborough United last weekend.

The forward, who is an under-16 but has been representing James Lowy’s under-18s, took his tally to five goals from two games to begin the season.

Kash Kasakumya also grabbed a brace as the young Cherries earned a 4-2 win in their first away game.

Lowy was delighted with his squad, telling afcb.co.uk: “It was another good performance from the group collectively, the players’ application and attitude was excellent.

“It was our first overnight trip, which is something we will be experiencing more of this season. This is valuable for the players as it educates them on how to manage and prepare themselves correctly, as well as developing themselves socially and being out of their comfort zone.

“There are still areas for us to improve individually and collectively, which is something we will strive to do every day on the grass.

“There were swings of momentum in the game, which is a good learning opportunity for the players and how they manage this, especially playing in competitive fixtures.

“There were good moments in the game where the group did this by controlling the ball in possession or denying scoring opportunities for the opposition with their out of possession work.”

The under-18s are next in action on Saturday morning when the squad take on Birmingham City.
