Bradley Wilson’s dramatic stoppage-time winner saw Basingstoke Town rob AFC Bournemouth of the chance of completing a famous Hampshire Senior Cup double tonight.

Wilson grabbed the only goal in the fifth minute of added time to see the Isthmian League South Central champions lift the trophy at Portsmouth’s Fratton Park headquarters.

His goal, coupled with a string of fine saves from Basingstoke goalkeeper Mark Scott, prevented the Cherries development squad from matching the achievements of the club’s women’s team who triumphed on penalties to win the county cup at the same venue last night.

Scott thwarted Alan Connell's young team on numerous occasions and was deservedly named man of the match.

The Cherries made a flying start and went close to taking the lead after just 11 seconds, Daniel Adu-Adjei missing his kick at the crucial moment.

Will Dennis saved comfortably from Reid’s ninth-minute free-kick before Finn Tonks cut out a dangerous pass which had been destined for Bradley Wilson.

Basingstoke goalkeeper Scott dived full-length to his right to keep out Michael Dacosta Gonzalez’s piledriver, with Baylin Johnson’s follow-up effort blocked.

A well-worked corner routine saw Ben Greenwood trade passes with Dom Sadi before Scott punched clear after the Cherries skipper had let fly from distance.

Scott then raced off his line to smother at the feet of Ben Winterburn before Reid’s thunderous drive was deflected for a corner after 21 minutes.

Basingstoke appealed in vain for a penalty after Reid had gone to ground under a challenge by Kinsey-Wellings, their supporters at the opposite end of the ground convinced referee Lewis Sandoe had pointed to the point when he had signalled for a goal-kick.

Neat close control on the edge of the box from Sadi saw him create an opening but his shot was blocked by Basingstoke skipper D’Andre Brown.

Sadi, teed up by Dacosta Gonzalez’s precision pass, saw his rasping drive beaten away by Scott, with Johnson curling narrowly wide after seizing on the loose ball.

Greenwood fired high into the Fratton End before he was one of two Cherries players denied by excellent saves from Scott in quick succession.

Firstly, the Basingstoke goalkeeper showed great reactions to parry Boutin’s stinging drive from Adu-Adjei’s cross around the post.

And from the resultant corner, Jack Wadham picked out Greenwood on the edge of the box, the skipper taking a touch before letting fly with a blistering effort which Scott acrobatically pushed away for corner.

Reid got in behind the Cherries defence but lifted his shot over the crossbar before Greenwood’s free-kick from 30 yards flicked off the wall and went out for a corner.

Wilson exchanged passes with Ben Cook before lifting a presentable opportunity over the crossbar at the start of the second half.

The Cherries were then indebted to Dennis for making a superb save, the Cherries goalkeeper keeping out Argent’s header from point-blank range.

Greenwood’s heroics also denied Basingstoke, the Cherries skipper making an unbelievable goalline clearance from Wilson’s volley.

As Basingstoke continued to threaten in the second period, Cook’s curling effort flashed past the upright, the frontman set up by Reid’s crossfield pass.

Adu-Adjei robbed defender Nathan Smart and fed Winterburn, only for the midfielder to see his goalbound effort hacked away to safety.

Boutin’s pass down the line released Adu-Adjei but again Scott distinguished himself by throwing himself bravely at the striker’s feet.

And the goalkeeper pulled off another top-drawer stop to claw away Brooklyn Genesini’s shot, with Wadham cushioning the ball into his teammate’s path.

Scott saved at his near post after Boutin had found Adu-Adjei in space before Wilson popped up with the winner deep in stoppage time, finding the bottom corner with a low right-foot shot.
