AFC Bournemouth’s Community Sports Trust supported Safer Internet Day 2020 with the delivery of Internet Safety Workshops to school children across Dorset.
This year, they worked in partnership with the Dorset Police Safe School and communities team to target more schools and young people across the region.
Ahead of a week of action for the Community Sports Trust, the Dorset Police team were invited to the Premier League match against Aston Villa to help spread the word of Internet Safety to the Junior Cherries.
A table was set up in the fan zone ahead of the game, where the young supporters could complete an Internet Safety themed quiz, as well as collect a sticker and meet the Dorset Police mascots.
A week of delivery saw the two organisations deliver 106 workshops to 36 schools, which included a workshop at Corpus Christi Primary held by both the Community Sports Trust and the Dorset Police team.
30 pupils from a Year 6 class took part in the lesson, which gave them the opportunity to review their online profile whilst also considering their actions in situations they could face when online.
Head of community Steve Cuss spoke about supporting the national campaign: “We are delighted to have supported Safer Internet Day, an important message and fantastic opportunity to highlight the importance of staying safe online.
“We enjoyed working with the Police to delivery workshops to over 300 children throughout the week.”
