Community Sports Trust host Cerebral Palsy Tournament

AFC Bournemouth's Community Sports Trust are delighted to have hosted the first Cerebral Palsy football tournament at Ringwood Community Hub.

The inaugural event took place earlier this month, with teams from Brighton and Chelsea travelling to play, alongside our own Cherries Squad.

The teams played fixtures throughout the afternoon, as well as taking the opportunity to utilise the Community Van, which was also on site for the activities.

Speaking after the event, Head of Community Steve Cuss spoke with afcb.co.uk: “We are delighted to have hosted our first Cerebral Palsy football tournament on the new pitch at Ringwood Community Hub.

“We continue to grow our disability programme year on year, and being able to offer events such as this we hope to attract even more players to join our teams.

“Having our own facility also means that we are able to host events, such as this, to showcase the different programmes and sessions we have on offer at AFC Bournemouth.

“I hope that all the players enjoyed the event, and we look forward to running more tournaments of this kind in the future.”

Our impairment-specific programme offers training opportunities to adults with Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome and those with a hearing impairment. Fixtures are also run periodically throughout the year for these players to get involved in.

If you would like more information on this programme, and how to get involved please email Inclusion Officer, Daryl Hobson, on daryl.hobson@afcb.co.uk or Steve Cuss on steve.cuss@afcb.co.uk.
