Cherry Monday sees local organisations beat January Blues

AFC Bournemouth's Cherries Community Fund has recently donated £5,962 into the local community in the latest panel of donations.

The donations were made as part of the club's Cherry Monday campaign, aimed at beating those January blues.

The panel reviewed applications that focussed on initiatives which improve people’s wellbeing and seven local organisations were rewarded with funds.

The following donations have been distributed to local causes in the area:

  • £1,000 donated to PramaLife to provide a weekly free lunch for the Boscombe Lunch Club for Older People.
  • £1,000 donated to the Bournemouth Spear Trust to help support 16-24 year olds re-enter education or employment.
  • £1,000 donated to West Howe Community Enterprises to replace indoor sports equipment at Henry’s Cafe, a wellbeing café.
  • £900 donated to St Christopher's Guides to provide camping equipment for the group.
  • £802 donated to Sports Forum for the disabled to purchase a defibrillator to enable activities to continue safely.
  • £660 donated to Oakhurst Community Hub for monthly community coffee mornings, which are held to help reduce social isolation and loneliness.
  • £600 donated to New Forest Baseball Club to provide safety equipment to help the community engage in healthy and fun activities.
