AFC Bournemouth showed its support to Level Playing Field over the weekend.
As the Cherries welcomed Manchester City to Vitality Stadium for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, the organisation’s campaign of Unite For Action was pushed around the ground.
Level Playing Field look to promote a positive, inclusive experience for disabled sports fans, with a strong belief that attending and engaging with live sporting events has a positive impact.
The organisation can offer support, information and advice on a range of topics around disabled spectator access, be it within clubs, disabled supporter associations and among fans.
On Saturday, members of the club’s Ability Counts team, which is run by the Community Sports Trust, were in attendance at the game and were also given the opportunity to be flagbearers as the players walked out.
The fans’ champion also supported the theme of disability within football, as Charlie Walker was selected to bring the match ball on to the pitch.
Having taken part in the Premier League’s Primary Stars project, with the support of the Community Sports Trust, Charlie has also seen his confidence grow through participation in the side’s Ability Counts team and at soccer camps in the school holidays.
In addition, players wore specific warm up shirts to promote the Unite For Access campaign, while the club is also in the process of launching its own Disabled Supporters Association.
