Williams - The manager said to win us the game

Khavarn Williams was told by manager Alan Connell to try and win the game for his side, before being substituted on and scoring twice in yesterday’s 4-2 win over Cheltenham.

His two goals for the Cherries were his first scored for the club, and it also helped the side regain the lead in the second half.

Speaking to afcb.co.uk after the match, Williams told us what Connell had said to him before coming on.

“Al said to me, try and impact the game when you come on.”

“Try and win us the game and try to get a goal. That’s what I did.”

Both goals today were the first in a Bournemouth shirt for the left-winger, who expressed his delight at the performance.

“It’s good to get my first goal. I’ve been working in training recently and Al has been helping me a lot.

“Scoring was something I needed to add to my game, and I feel today my hard work from training showed.

“I still don’t think I’m ready fitness-wise to start, I was out for a long time before I came to Bournemouth. It’s something we’re working on to make sure I can play 90 minutes.”
