Team news: Latest on Smith & Billing pre-Forest

Adam Smith and Philip Billing are hoped to be available for the Cherries in Tuesday's Championship match with Nottingham Forest.

The pair were left out of the squad for Saturday's win over Reading after spending time with Joshua King, who tested positive for Covid-19 last week.

Manager Jason Tindall spoke of the situation and their players' availability in his pre-match press conference at Vitality Stadium on Monday.

"They were assessed today," he said. "It was precautionary why they were left out at the weekend and we felt that was the best decision at the time.

"Hopefully they should be back involved tomorrow.

"In between Josh's negative test and positive test they were in and around him, we just felt that it was best for the good of everyone that we took that precaution and not involve them in the game at the weekend so they weren't around everybody, just in case.

"That was the only reason why they weren't involved."

No further injury concerns were reported by the boss after the rousing comeback against the Royals, with the squad coming through the encounter unscathed.

If selected, Steve Cook will make his 350th Cherries appearance on Tuesday at Vitality Stadium, while Lewis Cook would be making his 98th for the club, having scored his first goal at the weekend.

One further positive for the manager came with the recent change in rules allowing EFL managers to make five substitutions in each match, Tindall making four himself in Saturday's match.

"It was helpful for us," said Tindall on the substitutions revision. "I do think it's good for teams to be able to have that option, this season more so than any other because of the schedule and the amount of games we have to play.

"It's beneficial and it was nice for myself to have that option of making an extra sub at a time I felt I needed to."
