Team news: Cook ready for return

Lewis Cook is ready and could make his comeback against Reading on Saturday, according to Cherries head coach Scott Parker.

The midfielder suffered a second serious knee injury in March but has recently played a 45-minute spell and two full games for the Development Squad.

Elsewhere is the squad, Junior Stanislas has suffered a setback, with Parker beginning his assessment by saying that the 24-year-old had competed well in Tuesday's friendly away at Wycombe Wanderers.

"He came through it really well," he said. "That's two 90 minutes now, he's ready and I've liked what I've seen from Lewis.

"Of course the challenge will be for him now to battle his way into the team and into the squad. I have no doubt he can do that as he's got big quality, he's ready now.

"I was a player a little while ago and I realise that during injuries they're the worst moments, you can be really low, especially with long-term ones.

"With an injury like Lewis has had it will have been a big blow for him psychologically, since I've come in I've picked up on a stage of his rehab where he was on the other side of that, where he was pushing on.

"I'm sure there have been some tough moments for Lewis with the nature of the two injuries and long term as they've been, but I've certainly been impressed with him."

Parker also gave details on Stanislas, who has missed matches this season with a hamstring injury.

"Junior's got a slight issue which means that he'll probably miss the weekend," said the head coach. "Other than that everyone else is fine."
