January Player of the Month: Vote now

Written by Matt Joyce

Voting for January’s Michael Matthews Player of the Month award is now open.

Four Cherries players have been nominated for the first award of 2019, which saw the team lose just once in the month.

January started with an action-packed 3-3 draw with Watford, which was followed in the league by a defeat at Everton and back-to-back Premier League wins against West Ham United and Chelsea.

The memorable Chelsea win saw the first nominee, David Brooks, turn in a mesmerising performance with a superb assist and goal.

He also got an assist in the previous game against West Ham United.

The second nominee is frontman Joshua King, who scored three goals in the month, two excellently taken finishes against the Blues and another against the Hammers.

The third nominee for January’s award is defender Steve Cook, who captained the team in four fixtures at the start of 2019.

Cook has been excellent at the heart of the defence, alongside fourth nominee Nathan Ake.

Both Cook and Ake have been solid, keeping two clean sheets in back-to-back league fixtures at home against Chelsea and West Ham.
