Injury news: Senesi in contention for Wolves

AFC Bournemouth head coach Gary O’Neil confirmed that Marcos Senesi is in contention for this weekend’s trip to Wolves.

The Argentinian defender scored his first Premier League goal in the draw with Newcastle United last weekend but was forced off early in the second half.

However, O’Neil revealed that the injury isn’t one that will keep him out of the visit to the Molineux.

He said: “Marcos has done okay this week, he’s been back in training in the last few days.

“He passed a few checks and we expect to have him back this weekend.”

O’Neil also confirmed that there are no fresh concerns in the rest of the squad, although he doesn’t expect to have any additional players back this weekend.

He added: “Same as we were really. Lloyd Kelly is not back yet, Illia Zabarnyi is not back yet.

“David Brooks and Lewis Cook will still be out, but the rest of the group is in a decent place.”

The Cherries head coach was asked whether he’s seen an improvement in training following the arrival of six January signings and O’Neil admitted he had.

“I think in training, we’ve seen an improvement. We have more players now, and more good players, so the level of training has stepped up a notch.

“There’s more competition in terms of places, even places on the bench. There’s a competitiveness in the squad which is healthy.”
