Injury news: No fresh concerns for Parker

AFC Bournemouth head coach Scott Parker has revealed there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to QPR.

Parker was able to welcome back the likes of Lloyd Kelly, Jordan Zemura and Philip Billing in the defeat to Middlesbrough and hopes the Cherries are in a position to push forward with a near full-strength squad.

He told the media: "We're all good, we're fine. The players came away from there with no real issues, we've had some good days back at the training ground and worked well.

"It's been a good time for the players who have not been fit, or been out for some time prior to Middlesbrough, to get some good training time under their belt and we've managed to do that.

“Fingers crossed we’ve come out of that period where we accumulated a lot of injuries, that was a moment for us. Hopefully we’re the other side of that and players will be getting stronger from now on.”

Around 3,000 Cherries fans will make the journey to west London and Parker will have Jefferson Lerma back in contention, following the completion of his suspension.

Adam Smith remains a long-term absentee, the head coach confirming the full back underwent surgery at last week’s press conference.

The Cherries remain in second place despite a tough run of results and Parker has praised the league for its competitive nature.

“This division is crazy,” he said.

“It’s unpredictable at times, teams are going to have blips and teams are going to go on runs, that’s how it is. This will be a marathon and you need to be there at the end of the race.”

The trip to Middlesbrough marked the half-way point of the season and Parker is pleased with how the first half of the campaign has gone for the Cherries.

However, he has challenged his side to perform even better in the second half of the season.

“We look back at the first half of the season and are we happy? We’re delighted, absolutely delighted. We sit here with four losses, clean sheets, points and we’re second in the table.

“Is there [areas for] improvement? Of course. Would we have liked our recent form to be better? Yes, we would have.

‘We need to replicate what we’ve done this half, maybe even better if we can and improve.”

Monday’s fixture will kick-off at 5.30pm and will be televised live on Sky Sports.
