Ibe ready to stand up and be counted

On the eve of the new season, Jordon Ibe is ready to show the Cherries fans what he's made of.

Brought to the club last July, Ibe believes a year working with manager Eddie Howe has put him in a position to succeed.

“I've had my settling in period now," he told afcbTV. "The manager has had a lot of chats with me and my parents and he has encouraged me and helped me.

"I've seen from the other wingers and the rest of the team how it is to play here. There's a lot of hard running to do here and from the hard work comes the end product.

"I don't always enjoy the hard work but I am enjoying it more and I can see the attributes that can come from it - getting down the line and crossing it in for other players.

"I don’t want to waste this opportunity the manager's giving me. Not everyone gets the chance to play in the Premier League, especially at my age, so I just want to do well, help the team and prove to the manager that I’m good enough to play at this club.”

Jordan Ibe: Pre-season gallery

In pre-season the acquisition from Liverpool has looked sharp in the red and black, the 21-year-old explaining that he feels in a good place ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

I feel better than last season coming in," he explained. "I’ve had a one-year period and now a proper pre-season which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed so hopefully the whole team and myself can do well this season.

“I want to prove to the fans and to the manager, who had trust in bringing me to Bournemouth, that I can do well and hopefully I’ll add some goals and some assists this season."
