Cook wins October's Player of the Month

Steve Cook has won your vote to become the Michael Matthews Player of the Month award for October.

The defender played every minute during the month as the Cherries went undefeated across six Championship fixtures and picking up impressive wins against both Coventry City and Bristol City.

Cook has been instrumental at the back, as the side's win over the Robins saw them pick up a fourth straight clean sheet at home.

However, his standout moment came just last weekend, with a superb goalline clearance from Lee Buchanan to prevent Derby retaking the lead at Vitality Stadium, the hosts going on to pick up a valuable point.

In total, 2,561 supporters had their say in our poll on Twitter, with Cook picking up 37% of the vote.

He narrowly fought off competition from Asmir Begovic (35%), Diego Rico (16%) and Lewis Cook (12%) to claim the award.

The 29-year-old will now be presented with his trophy, as provided by sponsors Michael Matthews, in the coming days.

AFC Bournemouth would like to extend its thanks to Michael Matthews for their sponsorship of the competition.
