Cook – We can take lots of positives

Lewis Cook has shared his thoughts with afcbTV following this afternoon’s 0-0 draw with Leicester City at Vitality Stadium.

The midfielder made his first start of the campaign, as Eddie Howe’s side were unlucky not to pick up all three points following a battling display.

And after the full-time whistle, Cook spoke of his delight at the performance.

“I thought we performed really well today,” explained the 20-year-old.

“I think we’re getting back to how we were last year and we can take that as a positive.

“The back four and keeper were excellent. They were demanding and won most of the headers against a tough striking force which included Jamie Vardy.

“We were also positive going forward. We have top quality strikers there so the goals will come, maybe not today but certainly another.

“We’ve just got to continue that, stay consistent and take it into the next game. We’ve got a big game at Wembley so we’ve got to be on it.

Cook also spoke about the game from a personal point of view and how pleased he was to start for the Cherries.

“I enjoyed it personally and we were unlucky not to get the win,” he admitted.

“I’ve just got to continue playing my game and be the best that I can be. The standard is high so you’ve got to compete for the shirt and stay consistent because everyone works hard.

“I’ve got England coming up now so hopefully I can get some minutes there, whilst the lads can also regroup and get some training done so we’ll look to the next game, try and get things right and hopefully get the win.”
