Defender Max Kinsey stressed his desire for the Cherries development squad to perform on all fronts, as they host Leeds United in the last 16 of the Premier League Cup on Friday.
Alan Connell’s side fell to a last-gasp 3-2 defeat at Swansea City in league action on Monday, with Kinsey netting what looked like the winner until a two-goal salvo from the hosts late on.
The reverse left them fourth in the Professional Development League standings, having also reached the semi-finals of the Hampshire Senior Cup.
However, Kinsey’s focus will now turn back to Premier League Cup action with the Yorkshire club set to visit Eastleigh’s Silverlake Stadium (7pm kick-off). Entry is free for spectators.
Victory for the Cherries would mark the furthest AFC Bournemouth have ever gone in the competition.
And Guildford-born Kinsey, who has been with the Cherries since signing in July 2021, insisted his ambition was on performing on all fronts this campaign.
He told afcb.co.uk: “I feel like we want to do as well as we can in the league and our other competitions like the Premier League Cup and Hampshire Senior Cup.
“We can now turn our heads to this Friday, look to bounce back and go again.”
No club totalled more points than the Cherries in the group stage of the Premier League Cup, with five wins out of six accumulated in Group C.
Leeds booked their place in the knockout stages having finished runners-up in Group D behind Chelsea.
Despite his team being scuppered by the Swans last time out, centre-back Kinsey insisted the defeat could provide a valuable lesson.
“You can learn loads. It’s the highs and lows of football,” he added.
“One minute for me, personally, thinking I could be the winner of the game to getting to the 85th minute. Five minutes later, you lose.
“But it’s definitely one for us to reflect on, go again and learn from.”
