Gallery: Cherries progress in Premier League Cup

AFC Bournemouth turned in a dominant display against Wolverhampton Wanderers to book their place in the last 16 of the Premier League Cup on Monday.

The Cherries maintained their unbeaten record in Group C by seeing off the Midlanders in a behind-closed-doors game at Eastleigh’s Silverlake Stadium.

Dom Sadi’s second-half double added to first-half goals from Nathan Moriah-Welsh and Dan Adu-Adjei before Ash Clarke came off the bench to make it 5-0 with his first touch.

And although Wolves scored a consolation goal in injury time, nothing could take the gloss of what was one of Alan Connell’s team’s most impressive performances of the season.

Victory lifted the Cherries above Norwich City on goal difference, although Connell’s team have a game in hand on the Canaries and host them at New Cuthbury on Saturday 3rd February.

With the team finishing top of the group having home advantage in the knockout stage, the Cherries will be looking to tighten their grip when they host Charlton Athletic at Wimborne on Saturday 27th January in their penultimate group game.
