Dom desperate for county cup redemption

AFC Bournemouth development squad playmaker Dom Sadi is keen to erase the memory of last season’s “heartbreaking” Hampshire Senior Cup final defeat.

Sadi featured as Bradley Wilson’s dramatic stoppage-time goal earned Isthmian League South Central champions Basingstoke Town a 1-0 win at Portsmouth’s Fratton Park in May.

The 20-year-old has played a starring role in helping Alan Connell’s team reach the semi-final this season, the Cherries facing AFC Totton at Snows Stadium tonight (7.45pm kick-off).

Sadi netted twice and provided three assists in their 5-0 win at Moneyfields in the second round before chipping in with a goal in the 4-1 victory against Havant & Waterlooville in the third.

And although he sat out last month’s 4-0 win against Folland Sports in the quarter-final as he was on duty with the first team, Sadi was among the crowd to see his teammates progress.

Sadi told afcb.co.uk: “We worked so hard throughout the season to get to the final at Fratton Park and it was a heartbreaking moment to lose in those circumstances.

“On the night, we weren’t clinical and paid for not taking our chances. It was the first time a lot of us had played in a men’s final and it was a learning curve.

“Hopefully, if we get into that position again, we will do our job and kill off the game. But we know AFC Totton will be another challenge for us.

“They are doing well in Southern Premier South and it has all the makings of being a good game. We’ve done well to reach the semi-finals and would love to get into the final again.”
