Girls build on great start to season

Last weekend saw the AFC Bournemouth girls continue their successful start to the 2018/19 season, with more pleasing results across the board.

The Cherries youngest age groups, the under-10 and under-12s, were both drawn to play Whitchurch Girls.

The under-10s hosted the Hampshire side at Bournemouth School for Girls, with plenty of goals and some excellent football being played.

Nine of the side scored goals during this game, with Daisy and Katie scoring their first for the team.

Meanwhile, the under-12s travelled away to Whitchurch in the Hampshire Girls Cup, where they progressed following a terrific 12-0 win.

Five different AFC Bournemouth scorers, and an own goal, consolidated the win for the Cherries and saw them through to the next round of the competition.

The final game of the weekend was a top-of-the-table clash for the under-14s, who hosted Portsmouth in the Community. Following a difficult start for the Cherries, Hannah H. broke the deadlock after some good build-up play, with the visitors going into half time just a goal up.

The second half lacked the fluidity of the first, however that didn’t stop the Cherries who added a further five goals to their tally, with additions from Hannah H., Lucy, Faith and Freya. A notable finish came from Freya, who found the bottom corner from 20 yards out.
