The Community Sports Trust’s Football Education Programme (FEP) team are the 2019/20 National Football Youth League winners for the south.
The college programme team completed their season on 11th March, picking up 34 points across a 14-game campaign, securing top spot in the league with a 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle.
Due to the events that have occurred since and the national lockdown, the team have been unable receive their winners medals and trophy until recently.
Now playing in the Southern Premier League division of the National Youth Football League, the team, most of whom continue to represent AFC Bournemouth’s Community Sports Trust this academic year, lifted the trophy ahead of their first home game of the season.
Speaking on the success of the team, head of community Steve Cuss told afcb.co.uk: “Congratulations to the Football Education Programme team on winning the NFYL league. It is reward for all the hard work that the players and coaches put in.”
The FEP programme is a post-16 education course for boys and girls to study towards either a NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity or a NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport. It also allows the students to take part in football training on a daily basis.
Located at Oak Academy in Bournemouth, the course has three teams who play against other college programmes in either the National Football Youth League or the Community and Education Football Alliance League.
