Three AFC Bournemouth girls’ teams were given the opportunity to play last season’s Hampshire County Cup finals this month.

With the original dates cancelled due to COVID-19 in March, last season’s under-12, under-14 and under-16 trophies were up for grabs at the Hampshire FA Front Lawn Community Centre.

Last season’s under-16s triumphed 3-0 against New Milton Town with midfielder Faith scoring two long-range efforts and Hannah also on target.

Faith’s first goal was scored just before the half-hour mark as she cut inside and unleashed a shot from 30 yards.

The second and third goals came in the second half. During a period of dominant play in midfield, Lucy set up Hannah before Faith’s 35-yard effort sealed the win.

The Under-14s collected their trophy with the same scoreline as they beat AFC Portchester.

Taking an early hold of the game, Tallula struck the ball from the edge of the box to find the back of the net.

The Cherries’ lead was doubled with just ten minutes left of the second half when Amiee L’s shot from outside the box flew over the Portchester goalkeeper and into the top right-hand corner.

Anisha wrapped it up as she cut inside before beating her defender and rifling the ball past the oncoming goalkeeper.

The under-12s were not as successful as they were beaten by Portsmouth. However, they turned in a terrific team performance in going down 5-3 in an end-to-end thriller.

Immediately after Portsmouth had taken the lead, Amelia levelled for the Cherries from just inside the opposition half.

This spurred on another attack for the young side who went ahead as Zara’s acrobatic effort found the back of the net, only for Portsmouth to equalise before the break.

AFC Bournemouth regained the lead when Zara’s pass found Isabella on the far side of the opposition box who hit home.

Portsmouth went on to score two goals in quick succession and the Cherries were unable to come back, finishing as runners-up in the 2019/20 Hampshire County Cup.
