Community round-up: Girls begin pre-season

The countdown to the new season has begun!

AFC Bournemouth Girls and Women’s players have returned for pre-season over the past week, along with the students participating in the Football Education Programme at St Aldhelm’s College and the Female Elite Player Programme at Brockenhurst College.

Earlier this week, we welcomed our Football Education Programme students to Vitality Stadium for an induction day where, whilst learning about their new academic course and a pre-season training session, the students also had a tour.

The Female Elite Player Programme students have also visited the stadium as part of their preparations for the new academic year and they will continue to train at regular intervals until September.

There are still places remaining on our post-16 education courses. If you’re interested in being a part of these, please feel free to contact me on steve.cuss@afcb.co.uk and I can provide you with more information.

Last week, we hosted our second annual beach weekend at Canford Cliffs. It provided opportunities for players from our linked clubs, disability programme, Primary Stars and Premier League Kicks to play in either training games or tournaments.

We welcomed opposition from Watford, Brighton and Reading to some of our events, providing a brilliant opportunity for the young people to interact and meet others, as well as experience the beaches here in the south.

To end our weekend, the AFC Bournemouth Girls and Women’s players completed their third pre-season training session of the week, this time on the beach. It was a great event for our new players to interact further with their team-mates and for all to continue their new season preparations.

Summer Soccer Schools

Don’t forget our Summer Soccer Schools kick off on Thursday 25th July. This summer, we will be hosting sessions at Purbeck Sports Centre, Blandford School 3G, Pelhams Park, the David English Sports Centre and the Littledown Centre. More information can be found here.

China Football Study Programme

We are delighted to be working with Bournemouth University on the China Football Study programme again this year. We’ve already hosted one session based around passing with the 60 football coaches, and we are looking forward to hosting many more throughout the summer months.

Health Clubs stopping for summer break

Our male and female fitness sessions will be coming to an end for the summer break, finishing on Thursday 11th July. The classes will resume Thursday 5th September. For more information, email luke.simpson@afcb.co.uk.
