AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust coaches have returned from a five-day community project in South Africa.
Working specifically with the Kick4Life Project and the Premier League, they delivered coach education sessions to the project’s coaches on differentiation and specifically working with visually impaired players, and inclusion within sessions.
Throughout their stay, the Community Sports Trust coaches worked with locals at the Kick4Life Project’s facilities, visited a local school to see them in action, worked with the Kick4Life Academy at the Lesotho National Stadium and delivered a practical session to the pupils at the St Bernadette’s Resource Centre for the visually impaired.
Since returning from the trip, disability development inclusion officer Hannah Powis has spoken of the importance of the Kick4Life Project, and the work they are delivering in South Africa.
“It was fantastic to see the work that Kick4Life are doing for the local community in Maseru,” she began.
“It was clear to see that this has a huge impact on the lives of local people.”
“Working with their coaches to develop their curriculum into becoming more inclusive and accessible for all means that they will be further able to extend their work to include disabled participants.”
