Community coaches to visit South Africa

AFC Bournemouth’s Community Sports Trust are travelling to South Africa for a ten-day community football project.

The staff will be coaching boys and girls across different age groups, as well as delivering CPD sessions to local coaches and teachers.

Alongside the coaching, workshops for players will also be carried out, with advice to be given on training, nutrition, the importance of sleep and how to look after yourself off the pitch as a player.

The trip is in partnership with Switched On Christian School and will also provide the coaches with the opportunity to visit local community projects in South Africa.

It will be the first time the Community Sports Trust coaches have been able to carry out an overseas trip since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

They previously visited China, Australia and Oman, with South Africa again providing the opportunity to promote AFC Bournemouth, share coaching knowledge and give a fantastic experience for all participants.

Ahead of the trip, Head of Community Steve Cuss shared his thoughts with afcb.co.uk.

“We are pleased to be in a position to restart our international projects.

“We are very much looking forward to working with schools, players and coaches in Johannesburg and Durban and hope to provide valuable support alongside a memorable experience for those taking part.”
