Club partake in Girls' Football Festival

AFC Bournemouth were delighted to take part in the Premier League Girls Football Festival at St. George’s Park last week.

The Cherries were one of 24 clubs involved, with eight girls aged between 14 and 16 representing the club.

The youngsters partaking for AFC Bournemouth had been chosen from those who attended the Cherries’ various Premier League Girls projects.

On the day, group matches were played against Arsenal, Burnley, MK Dons, Preston North End and Southampton and, whilst most ended in draws, the side managed to beat the Gunners 3-2.

Ex-Arsenal and England Ladies player Faye White was also in attendance, giving a talk to the girls taking part.

Following the event, AFC Bournemouth’s Head of Community Steve Cuss spoke of the day and its success.

“We were delighted to be able to join other clubs and celebrate girls football at St Georges Park,” he told afcb.co.uk.

“The day provided a memorable experience for the players who attended and they represented AFC Bournemouth in a very professional manner."
