A number of AFC Bournemouth staff, with family and friends, and Proud Cherries were delighted to attend Bourne Free’s Bournemouth pride events throughout the weekend of 8th-9th July alongside JP Morgan.
This season, a record number of staff attended the festival which, for the first time, was held at Meyrick Park.
Steve Cuss and the Community Sports Trust thoroughly enjoyed attending the family fun evening on 8th July, which saw a record number of visitors attend the event.
Cuss, head of community and women’s team manager, stood alongside the Mayor of Bournemouth to officially open this year’s festival.
On the Saturday, a number of staff members from both AFC Bournemouth and JP Morgan took part in the walking parade from the triangle to Meyrick Park, which coincided with the event’s theme of ‘sustainability’.
The club’s EDI manager, Hannah Powis, said: “Over previous years, we have been proud to support the Bourne Free festival, year on year we have seen an increase in the number of staff attending the weekend’s events.
“We are looking forward to working with our LGBTQ+ supporters’ group, Proud Cherries, over the 22/23 season to raise awareness of the LGBTQ+ community.”
Carys Rodd, AFC Bournemouth ticketing customer service assistant, commented on attending the day: “It was great fun representing AFC Bournemouth in the pride parade.
“It was good to see so many people joining in the parade and everyone who came down to support the day. I’d definitely like to be a part of it again next year!”
The club are extremely proud of their involvement with the Bourne Free festival and its LGBTQ+ support group, Proud Cherries and look forward to being involved in next year’s event already.
