AFC Bournemouth's Cherries Community Fund has recently donated nearly £8,000 into the local community in the latest panel of donations.
The following donations have been awarded to local causes in the area:
£1,000 donated to Macmillan Caring Locally to help towards their ‘Brick by Brick’ project which will refurbish their palliative care unit at Christchurch Hospital. The unit provides patients and their families with a retreat and a place where they can get the support and care that is so vital when suffering with a terminal illness. The new ward will feature rooms with comfortable furniture, direct access to a shady terrace and opening doors to allow for socialising. As well as this, additional space and comfortable seating in the patient lounges and break out areas for relatives will be provided so they can be nearby during patient assessments and care procedures.
£1,000 donated to Adam Sevenoaks to purchase a specialist Artic turning bed. The bed enables Adam to have independence in the ability to change his position and allow some relief by altering his posture and reliving pressure. Adam who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy plans to have the bed customised to AFC Bournemouth.
£1,000 donated to Dorchester Opportunity Group to buy new gym equipment for their weekly gym session for Preschool for children with additional needs. The donation will help purchase items such as new crash mats, balance beams, wobble boards and hoops.
£500 donated to the Dorchester Dynamos U11s for the costs of a new kit and training equipment.
£275 donated to Flower Fest 18 to provide Cherry Tree Nursey with a pitch to raise awareness and funds.
£1,000 donated towards workbooks and course materials to aid community members undertaking ‘The Recovery Course’. The course is aimed to help those suffering with addiction in the local area.
£1,000 donated towards the running of ‘The Dorset Ethnic Minority Awards’. The project is aimed at celebrating Ethnic Minority individuals, community groups and businesses in the area that have positively impacted the ethnic minorities of Dorset.
£1,000 donated to Richard Antell for the purchase of a specialised light-weight wheel chair.
£1,000 donated to St Francis Church towards providing accommodation for a Youth and Families worker to work with schools and families in need.
The total donated from this panel is £7,775 meaning an overall total since the fund started in 2016 £84,099 has been given to worthy causes.
