CityFibre become Community Sports Trust partner

CityFibre has become an official partner of the AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust and will be supporting workshops for local children on the uses and delivery of the internet in local homes.

CityFibre has the UK’s alternative digital infrastructure provider and will be supporting the Trust with the content and delivery of sessions in primary schools across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, to help support the importance of digital skills and raise awareness of digital inclusion.

Supporting local school with an educational project, Fibre Fans looks at the history of the internet and break down the science behind the speed of light that travels within the fibre optic cables in fun-focused workshops.

Lucy Cooper, city manager at CityFibre, said: “We are delighted to work in partnership with AFC Bournemouth and local schools to highlight the importance of technology, especially the role it plays within digital inclusion.

"This project will be continuing throughout the next academic year within Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole and forms part of our commitment to the local area.

"We’re working hard to connect every home and business in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole bringing the district next-generation broadband."

The combined £65m investment will also boost business productivity and innovation and deliver millions in economic benefits for all in the area, while giving residents access to the UK’s fastest broadband services.

AFC Bournemouth partnerships manager Amy Marks said: “With the world becoming increasingly digitised it’s great that the Community Sports Trust have been able to partner with CityFibre to deliver these sessions.

“The workshops will give information and experience to young people in our local area to help them build their understanding and abilities in the digital world, equipping them to thrive within it as they get older.”
