Vote now for May Goal of the Month!

The four nominees for May’s Strategic Solutions Goal of the Month award have been revealed and now is your chance to watch and vote for your favourite.

Mark Travers joins academy prospect Josh Clarke as the second Cherries goalkeeper to be short-listed this season – in a month which also saw Alisson score for Liverpool.

Travers faces competition for the award from fellow Irishman Gavin Kilkenny and Cherries’ top goalscorer Arnaut Danjuma, who has two nominations.

Efforts from Travers and Kilkenny both came during an eventful Hampshire Senior Cup final, which saw the Cherries triumph on penalties against Eastleigh.

Kilkenny, who was also nominated for the November award, won and converted a first-half free-kick to get the Cherries back on level terms at AFC Totton’s Snows Stadium.

The midfielder, named in Republic of Ireland’s under-21 squad for a triple-header of friendlies next week, curled his set-piece past Eastleigh goalkeeper Ross Flitney from around 25 yards.

Kilkenny’s countryman Travers, who had earlier saved a penalty from Dan Smith, then took centre stage when he scored a dramatic equaliser deep in stoppage time.

The Republic of Ireland international briefly swapped 18-yard boxes and beat Flitney with a thumping header from Kilkenny’s corner to take the clash to penalties.

Travers then kept out Dan Bradshaw’s first penalty in the shootout before the Cherries went on to prevail 5-3 with Kilkenny, Keelan O’Connell, Jaidon Anthony, Brooklyn Genesini and Corey Jordan all despatching their spot-kicks.

Danjuma, who won the award in September and April, takes his nomination count for the season to eight.

His first effort was a typically-clinical finish which gave the Cherries the lead in the first leg of their Championship play-off semi-final against Brentford.

The Netherlands international, teed up by David Brooks’ sublime pass, nonchalantly caressed the ball past Bees goalkeeper David Raya to register his 16th goal of the season.

Danjuma’s tally increased to 17 when he drew first blood in the second leg at the Brentford Community Stadium, his second nomination for May.
