Francis flying high for Villa

Ahead of the crunch game with Aston Villa Saturday's programme focuses both on the fixture this weekend, as well as the historic last visit of the Villans to Vitality.

"That initial feeling after being promoted, that was the best feeling you can have as a footballer. I was just on top of the world."

Aged 30, Simon Francis' career was stepping into the Premier League for the first time, and the Cherries' captain talked about going to the USA (twice) that summer and the preparation that went into the biggest curtain raiser of his and the club's lifetime.

Read the full story from Francis, as well as his thoughts on the weekend, as he talks exclusively to MATCHDAY during a memorable photo shoot at Bournemouth Aviation Museum in a stunning matchworn Sean O'Driscoll shirt from the late eighties.

Honing in on kick-off

With Saturday's match an important encounter for both clubs, MATCHDAY drills down on the pre-match detail, getting the thoughts of Eddie Howe, the chairman and the view from Villa Park ahead of the game.

Shaun Teale - a defender who played with distinction for both clubs - also talks about his time on the south coast as well as nearly being hit by a brick during the infamous visit of Leeds United in 1990.

Younger supporters can also make sure they're right up to date with the Extra Time pull-out, featuring all the stats and news on the opposition, bumper quizzes and a mega Simon Francis poster.

MATCHDAY costs £3.50 and is on sale around the ground in the build-up to the game, and you can also buy editions online here or download a digital version (here for iOS and here for Android) which is now compatible with screen readers.
