Community in superb voice at Carol service

It was Christmas carols, not football chants that were being sung at Vitality Stadium on Monday evening.

The club held its annual Christmas Carol Service, giving the local community the chance to get into the festive spirit in the stands at the stadium.

The free event saw more than 300 people turn up to sing Christmas carols alongside the first team management staff, first team players and those in the club’s academy as well.

With carols sung by LEAF Studio School Choir, JLDA Christmas Choir and Bournemouth Junior Schools Choir, there was a real feel-good factor amongst members of the community as funds were also raised for the club’s four nominated charity partners, Access Dorset, Autism Wessex, PramaLife and Dorset Search and Rescue.

Club chairman Jeff Mostyn, who was also present at the event, said: "It really is one of my favourite days of the year.

"At this time of year, it’s all about coming together and of course with recent events, it’s very important that we get together and show that this football club is all about its local community.

"The strapline together anything is possible rings true, particularly at evenings like this, to show that the community is the lifeblood of the club and has been for the past 100 years."

Club chaplain Adam Parrett added: "It was an exciting evening for the community to come together and celebrate Christmas.

"We welcomed all sorts of different people and it was really lovely to see people come to the stadium and get together at this time of year."
