AFC Bournemouth will be showing their support to Childhood Cancer Awareness month at this weekend’s fixture against Leicester City at Vitality Stadium.
Premier League and EFL clubs have united this September for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, supporting the Bradley Lowery Foundation as they fundraise to aid further research into childhood cancer.
Six-year old Sunderland supporter Bradley Lowery lost his battle to High Risk Neuroblastoma in July 2017, striking up a friendship with current Cherries player Jermain Defoe in his final months.
The Foundation was set up in his memory to help children and their families who have been affected by cancer or other childhood illnesses.
This weekend, AFC Bournemouth will be welcoming young supporter Felix Brown as the Fans’ Champion, where he will bring out the match ball to a full Vitality Stadium ahead of kick-off.
Felix was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in January 2016 at the age of 10 and has since endured over 950 days of chemotherapy, steroid treatment and lumbar punctures.
Additionally, the club have teamed up with the Junior Cherries’ charity partner, Gully’s Place, to invite three more families who have also been affected by leukaemia to enjoy the match.
Gully’s Place works to provide support for children across Dorset who have life-limiting conditions. Further information about the excellent work of the charity can be found here.
