Boro were back level before the break though, Kei Kamara bundled home before Mustapha Carayol levelled with a deflected 25-yard strike.
Grant Leadbitter netted to turn the game around but Elliot Ward's crossed was diverted into the Boro net by Jonathan Woodgate to secure a late point for the visitors.
