Wilson: He’s been massive for us and it’s a great achievement

Hull City are the visitors to Vitality Stadium for the weekend’s Premier League clash, with Cook in line for a landmark Cherries appearance.

And Wilson, who since signing for the Cherries in the summer of 2014 has played alongside Cook, believes his presence both on and off the pitch cannot be underestimated.

“He’s been massive for us,” Wilson told afcb.co.uk. “Since I joined he’s been at the heart of the defence, previously with Tommy and now with Franno.

“It feels like he’s been an ever-present in the starting line-up over the last few years, so it’s a great achievement.

“He’s a great lad off the pitch, too. He’s always got something to say for himself. Hopefully there are many more appearances to come from him in an AFC Bournemouth shirt.”

Whilst Wilson himself will be hopeful of adding to his recent goal tally - two in his previous four Premier League outings – the Cherries frontman added that he would be equally as happy with a third consecutive 1-0 home league win.

He continued: “We need to make sure that Vitality Stadium is a difficult place for teams to come and play their football.

“If we can continue keeping clean sheet and nicking victories by the odd goal then I don’t think you’ll hear anyone complaining.”

“You sometimes get a bit of momentum and in that respects the international break is a little frustrating, but we’ve got a good run of games ahead of us now and hopefully we can pick up from where we left off.”
