Portsmouth-born Keelan O’Connell joined the Cherries in 2009 and has worked his way through the club’s academy ranks.
Schooled at St John’s Primary in Portsmouth and Ferndown Upper, O’Connell was spotted by club scouts playing youth football when he was 11.
Predominantly a winger who can also play up front, he signed his first professional contract in 2015/16.
In 2016/17, he was named in the Cherries matchday squad for the EFL Cup third round clash against Preston and the FA Cup third round tie against Millwall.
O’Connell netted four goals for the club’s under-21s in 2018/19, including one in a 7-1 win over Burnley in the Premier League Cup and another in the Central League Cup semi-final victory at Shrewsbury.
He made six appearances during a loan spell at Greenock Morton in the Scottish Championship in the second half of 2018/19, describing the experience as “a learning curve”.
O'Connell signed a one-year contract extension at the end of the 2018/19 season.
