Born in Frimley and raised in Aldershot, Ben Greenwood attended St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and completed his GCSEs at All Hallows Catholic Secondary School.

He joined the Cherries at the back end of the 2018/19 having previously played for Fleet Spurs and Pulse Academy, whilst also having trials at Premier League outfits Chelsea, Arsenal and Watford.

In March 2019, he received one cap for England school boys after featuring in the Centenary Shield games against Wales and Scotland.

The left-back was called up to train with the Ireland under-19 squad in September 2019 at just 17 but has yet to earn a cap for the country he qualifies through via his grandparents on his mother’s side.

The 18-year-old has had loan spells at Wimborne and Poole in 2020 and has also frequently trained with the first team at Vitality Stadium.

Greenwood signed his first professional contract for the club in July 2021 and made his first appearance for the senior team in the pre-season friendly against European champions Chelsea.

After winning both the Hampshire Senior Cup and the Central League Cup last season, he was also part of the club’s summer trip to Marbella.
