Tommy Elphick is the most successful captain in the history of AFC Bournemouth.

As an influential defender during his playing days, Elphick skippered the Cherries to two promotions – to the Championship in 2012/13 and the Premier League in 2014/15.

He joined the club’s staff, assisting Shaun Cooper in coaching the development squad, in September 2021 after hanging up his boots having made more than 400 appearances during a playing career spanning 16 years.

14 months later, in November 2022, and Elphick was elevated to the first team, becoming a key part of the backroom staff.

Elphick, who was crowned Cherries supporters’ player of the year in 2014/15, holds his UEFA B and UEFA A coaching licences and is working towards obtaining his UEFA Pro Licence.

He was ever present as the Cherries secured a place in the Premier League and made 145 appearances for the club after joining from Brighton in August 2012.

Elphick progressed through the academy ranks at Brighton, going on to make 182 appearances for the Seagulls.

He left the Cherries to join Aston Villa in 2016 and had loan spells with Reading and Hull City before signing for Huddersfield Town in 2019.
