Position:
First Team
Date of birth:
10th May 1975
Nationality:
English

Neil Moss returned to Vitality Stadium as Head of Goalkeeping in December 2022.

A popular figure during his playing days, Moss was voted by AFC Bournemouth supporters as the club’s all-time number one.

Lifelong Cherries fan Moss hung up his gloves in 2008 and took up a position as the club’s goalkeeper coach ahead of the start of the 2009/10 season.

During his first spell, he was responsible for nurturing the likes of Aaron Ramsdale and Mark Travers, both of whom went on to be capped by their respective countries.

He also worked with experienced internationals Artur Boruc, Asmir Begovic and David James as well as helping to hone the talents of Shwan Jalal and Ryan Allsop.

The Cherries gained promotion from League Two at the end of Moss’s first season before finishing as runners-up in League One and securing a place in the Championship in 2012/13.

His third promotion as goalkeeper coach came when the Cherries were elevated to the Premier League for the first time in their history after winning the Championship in 2014/15.

Moss, who holds the prestigious UEFA Goalkeeping A Licence, left the club in 2021 before working for the Football Association as a national goalkeeper coach.

Born in Barton-on-Sea and raised in Christchurch, Moss started his career as an apprentice with the Cherries before turning professional in January 1993.

Having made his debut as a 17-year-old, Moss joined Southampton in December 1995 before rejoining the Cherries on loan in September 2002.

He made a total of 223 appearances for the club – including once playing 115 games in succession –  and starred as the Cherries won promotion from Division Three in 2002/03.
