Hugo Faria was appointed AFC Bournemouth first-team assistant coach in November 2018.

He joined the club following a lengthy playing career as a midfielder which took in spells in Portugal, Cyprus, Greece, Malta and Scotland.

Faria holds the UEFA A coaching license and has coaching experience in the youth set-ups at Livingston, Airdrieonians and Portuguese third-tier outfit Louletano DC.

Born in the district of Faro, he played youth football for three clubs including FC Porto before starting his senior career with Louletano where he made 77 appearances.

He joined top-flight club UD Leiria in the summer of 2004, playing 53 games. He also had a loan spell at Sporting Clube Olhanense where he made 27 appearances.

Faria made 133 appearances for Enosis Neon ParalimniĀ in the top tier in Cyprus before moving to Kalloni in the Greek Superleague.

Following brief spells with Valletta in Malta and Apollon Smyrni in Greece, Faria joined Scottish Championship outfit Livingston in August 2015.

He played 12 times for Livingston and made 14 appearances for Airdrie before returning to Portugal at the end of 2016.

Faria represented Portugal at under-20 level and played in the prestigious Toulon Tournament in 2004.
