Siriki Dembele arrived at Vitality Stadium on a permanent deal, the club’s fourth signing of deadline day.
Born in Ivory Coast, Dembele moved to Govan, Scotland in 2004, joining Dundee United’s academy system.
The versatile winger’s brother is Celtic forward Karamoko Dembele, and is family friends with Ivorian legends Kolo and Yaya Toure.
After a spell with Ayr United in 2015, Dembele was selected for the notable Nike Football Academy, the only Scottish player selected for the academy based at St George’s Park.
In May 2017, Dembele joined Grimsby Town on an initial one-year contract. He made his professional debut in August 2017, where he went on a lengthy run to set up Luke Summerfield for the club’s second goal in a 3-1 win.
The winger scored his first goal for the club in October of the same year, rounding the goalkeeper to tuck home in a 2-1 win over Port Vale.
He was awarded the EFL Young Player of the Month for October 2017 and his impressive form earned him a move to Peterborough United in June 2018.
Dembele immediately established himself as a key member of Peterborough’s squad, scoring seven goals in 47 matches in all competitions in his first season.
His most impressive season came in 2020/21 where he helped the Posh secure promotion to the Championship. In that campaign, Dembele scored 12 times, as well as setting up 12 goals, in 45 matches.
The 25-year-old has adapted to life in the Championship well and was Peterborough’s leading goalscorer at the time of his departure, with five goals in 24 matches.
