Isle of Wight-born striker Jake Scrimshaw has made excellent progress through the club's academy and under-21 ranks.
After being named as under-18s player of the year in 2018/19, he was rewarded with his first professional contract.
Scrimshaw scored no fewer than 48 goals, including 17 during a fruitful loan spell with Southern League South outfit Poole Town in the second half of 2018/19.
The frontman, who hails from Ryde, was invited to join the Cherries as a 15-year-old having impressed during a four-week trial at one of the club’s ID centres.
He was spotted by club scouts banging in the goals for Hurstwood Rangers in Havant and crossed the Solent five or six times a week to attend training sessions in Bournemouth.
Scrimshaw’s goalscoring exploits in 2018/19 helped the Cherries reach the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup for only the second time in the club’s history.
He hit six of their eight goals in the competition – including a stunning hat-trick in the fourth-round win at Oxford – before the Cherries bowed out at the hands of eventual runners-up Manchester City, whose team included the likes of Eric Garcia.
Scrimshaw ended the campaign as Poole Town’s leading marksman in all competitions, his goals helping them qualify for the Southern League South play-offs.
He signed a new two-year deal and progressed to the club’s under-21s, along with eight other members of Alan Connell’s successful under-18 squad.
In January 2020, Scrimshaw joined National League Eastleigh on loan for the second-half of the 2019/20 season, making nine appearances for the Spitfires.
And in October 2020, he made his Football League debut when he came off the bench as an 82nd-minute substitute for Walsall in their 1-1 draw with League Two rivals Bradford City at Valley Parade
He would go on to score his first professional goals in Walsall’s 4-3 win over Port Vale in December 2020 grabbing a brace and would go to make 16 appearances for the Saddlers with his only goals coming in the win over Port Vale.
After spending the first half of the 2020/21 season at Walsall, Scrimshaw moved to fellow League Two side Newport and made 16 appearances for the Welsh outfit also netting twice.
During the 2021/22 season the promising forward will be on loan at league two Scunthorpe as he continues his development.
