Abby Jones hailed the togetherness in the AFC Bournemouth women’s squad, as they get set for a busy week ahead in their National League South campaign.

Steve Cuss’s side host Abingdon United Ladies at Ringwood Community Hub on Sunday (2pm).

The Cherries then face an away trip to Moneyfields on Tuesday before visiting Maidenhead United Ladies on Sunday, March 17th.

And Jones, who was named vice-captain of the side this season, believes the camaraderie in the camp will play a big factor as they look to keep up their positive progress.

Speaking to afcb.co.uk, the full-back said: “The team morale this season is something I will never forget.

“Everyone in the squad has a massive togetherness and I think that’s really important going into a run of games where we all need each other.

“We have a very close-knit team. Everyone has the same work-ethic and I think that’s why we work so well together.

“We all rub off on each other and, if someone is having a bad day, then there’s the other people in the squad who can pick that person up.

“I think it’s the best group of players we’ve had in the whole time I have been at the club to be honest.

“The hard work and intensity we have in training is exactly the same as how we play. That’s a really important part of the team.”

Having recorded 11 victories from 12 league games this season, the Cherries are currently nine points behind leaders Exeter City, with three games in hand.

“We know it’s going to be a busy eight days with three games ahead of us but we are looking forward to it,” said Jones.

“We haven’t had a run of games, so it will be nice to get back into it.

“Every player is going to be needed. We know we are going to have to be ruthless in our game play.

“That’s something we are going to have to work on, is scoring more goals and hopefully we can do that this week.”

AFC Bournemouth women are also in action at Vitality Stadium against Keynsham Town Ladies on Sunday, March 24th. You can book tickets and select your seat here.
