AFC Bournemouth women are delighted to announce the loan signing of Kelci Bowers from Portsmouth.

The defender will link up with the Cherries for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

Bowers made the move to Portsmouth at the start of the season, following her departure from Louisiana State University.

The 20-year-old progressed through the academy at Southampton, before linking up with Chelsea at under-18s level.

During her time with the London club, Bowers was part of the side that won the FA WSL Academy League title in 2021, earning herself the opportunity to train with Emma Hayes and the first team.

In addition, she has represented England’s youth teams from under-14s through to under-19s.

Bowers links up with Steve Cuss’ side, who remain unbeaten in the women’s National League this season.

Following the move, Cuss spoke to afcb.co.uk about his delight: “We’re thrilled to bring Kelci to the club for the remainder of the season.

“She’s someone that can help us and will bring a lot of strength to the side. I’m looking forward to working with Kelci and seeing what we can achieve as a team in the coming months.”

Bowers added: “I am really pleased. The girls seem great, there are really good facilities and Steve seems a great manager, so I’m really excited to get going.

“They have got a great ambition here and good goals to achieve. I want to help achieve that and be a part of that to take into next season."
