The 2020/21 Southern Region Women’s Premier League has been curtailed, and therefore declared null and void, for the second season in a row.
As a result, AFC Bournemouth Women will not compete in any further league fixtures this term.
There will be no direct promotion or relegation between tiers three and six of the women’s football pyramid, with the Cherries currently playing their football in tier five.
A recommendation for alternative club movement has been provided, meaning that Steve Cuss’ side could apply for a promotion should they meet certain criteria.
The side had completed just one league game this season, an 11-0 win away at Oxford City, with six FA Cup fixtures having dominated the calendar.
As a result of the league season being curtailed, a cup competition will be organised and take place over the coming months, with details to be announced in due course.
Following the latest news, Cuss shared his thoughts with afcb.co.uk.
"The league not being completed for a second season is disappointing for all, but we are looking forward to a return to training and entering the new cup competition across April and May.
"We look forward to ending the season in a positive way."
