Women drawn at home in FA Cup opener

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth Women have been drawn at home to Feniton Ladies in the first preliminary round of the SSE FA Cup.

The tie will take place on Sunday 1st September, with a 2pm kick-off scheduled at Verwood Town FC.

The side will be looking to build on their excellent campaign last season, which saw them make the first round proper after winning all three qualifiers.

Following the draw, manager Steve Cuss spoke to afcb.co.uk of his excitement.

“The FA Cup is a special competition and there was much excitement ahead of the draw, particularly as this will also be the opening game of the season,” he began.

“A home tie is always nice, but it will be a tough game against Feniton.

“We will continue to work hard throughout preseason, building towards this opening game in the competition that we hope to do well in.”

The draw for the Hampshire Women's FA County Cup has also taken place this afternoon, with Cuss' side travelling to Eastleigh in the opening round on Sunday 20th October.
